Hirofumi Asaba is a Japanese jazz guitarist born in Kawagoe Saitama.
He first started playing music on the guitar at age 14 and traveled around the world to play music with other local musicians at age 20. After returning home, he began his career as jazz guitarist and was apprenticed to Yoshiaki Okayasu who is one of the representative jazz guitarist of Japan.
In 2015, he recorded his first album produced by his master Yoshiaki Okayasu.
Hirofumi Asaba aka Asaba Trio won the grand prix in one of the largest jazz festival in Japan \u201cYokohama Jazz Promenade\u201d in 2017.
One year later, he performed at one of the largest jazz festival in the world \u201cDetroit Jazz Festival\u201d which Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, George Benson, Pat Martino and other have also performed. He also released his 2nd album in the same year.
In 2019, he performed Korean swing festival \u201cJeju Swing Camp\u201d on July and Taichung Jazz Festival 2019 on the main stage which accommodates over 1 million visitors annually.
He cites as influences Barney Kessel and Charlie Christian.
