Hirofumi Asaba is a Japanese jazz guitarist born in Kawagoe Saitama.
He first started playing music on the guitar at age 14 and traveled around the world to play music with other local musicians at age 20. After returning home, he began his career as jazz guitarist and was apprenticed to Yoshiaki Okayasu who is one of the representative jazz guitarist of Japan.
In 2015, he recorded his first album produced by his master Yoshiaki Okayasu.
Hirofumi Asaba aka Asaba Trio won the grand prix in one of the largest jazz festival in Japan “Yokohama Jazz Promenade” in 2017.
One year later, he performed at one of the largest jazz festival in the world “Detroit Jazz Festival” which Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, George Benson, Pat Martino and other have also performed. He also released his 2nd album in the same year.
In 2019, he performed Korean swing festival “Jeju Swing Camp” on July and Taichung Jazz Festival 2019 on the main stage which accommodates over 1 million visitors annually.
He cites as influences Barney Kessel and Charlie Christian.

2000Started playing guitar at age 14.

2011After returning Japan, began his career as jazz guitarist and studied under a Yoshiaki Okayasu who is one of the representative jazz guitarist in Japan.
2015Released the 1st album “EASY LIKE” on What’s New Records.
2017 Won the first prize at Yokoyama Jazz Promenade competition.
2018Performed at Detroit Jazz Festival in the U.S, released the 2nd album.
2019Joined Asian Golden Swing Quartet with promising young musicians and released its first album.
Performed at Jeju Swing Camp and Taichung Jazz Festival in Taiwan.
